The current system traps families in schools based on their zip code, rather than their child�s unique needs. While most students still attend public schools, school choice fosters competition, which can improve standards across the board. A key challenge is attracting and retaining top teachers. By incentivizing schools to offer competitive salaries and more autonomy, we can make teaching more appealing. Flexibility in budgeting and curriculum decisions would allow schools to invest in teacher development and reward innovation. School choice benefits not just students but teachers too, offering them more freedom to find workplaces that align with their teaching style. However, it's crucial that these choices are made without coercion or external pressure. Individuals must have the autonomy to make decisions about their lives and health in a manner that is truly voluntary and free from undue influence. Regarding vaccinations, while I do not support government-mandated vaccines, I believe private employers and schools should have the authority to set their own policies. | |||

Recreational Marijuana: I support the legalization of recreational marijuana in North Carolina. I believe that adults should have the right to make their own decisions about what substances they consume. I also believe that the state should not interfere with the personal choices of its citizens, and that the government should not be in the business of criminalizing adults for using a substance that 57% of North Carolinians support. |
